Our TV movie pick for tonight (Sunday, 31 May) is The Yards, the gripping 2000 crime thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix.

The film follows Leo Handler, a young man freshly released from prison who returns home to Queens hoping for a fresh start.

Despite his influential family, he lands a job in the railway industry and reconnects with his childhood friend Willie Gutierrez, however Leo soon finds himself trapped in a web of loyalty, betrayal and a whole lot of secrets.

While it was overlooked upon release, the film has since earned a reputation as one of the strongest crime dramas of the early 2000s.

The Yards is airing on TV tonight on Legend at 9pm.
