Our TV movie pick for tonight (Tuesday, 16 June) is Behind Enemy Lines, the hit 2001 war film.
Owen Wilson (No Escape) stars as Lieutenant Chris Burnett, a Navy pilot who is shot down during an aerial reconnaissance mission over enemy territory.
Fleeing into the wilderness, he struggles to survive "the relentless pursuit of a ruthless secret police enforcer, a deadly tracker, and countless hostile troops".
"With time running out, the pilot's commanding officer (two-time Oscar-winner Gene Hackman - The French Connection, Unforgiven) goes against orders to carry out a desperate rescue mission," the plot synopsis adds.
Directed by Irish filmmaker John Moore (A Good Day to Die Hard, The Omen remake), the movie co-stars David Keith (An Officer and a Gentleman), Gabriel Macht (Suits) and Joaquim de Almeida (Queen of the South).
A box office hit upon release, Behind Enemy Lines initially earned mixed reviews.
Nevertheless, the film placed 83rd on a recent poll from the website Ranker to find 'The 100 Best War Movies of All Time'.
It also spawned three direct-to-DVD sequels.
Behind Enemy Lines is airing on Film4 at 6.55pm. The movie is also currently streaming on Disney+.
