Netflix has just released the first trailer for The Last House, its new sci-fi starring Oscar-nominee Wagner Moura (Narcos, The Secret Agent) and Greta Lee (Past Lives, Tron: Ares).
Set for a release on the streaming service in early August, the movie sees the two actors play a married couple and the parents of two children. One morning, the family awakens to discover that they have been mysteriously sealed inside their home with no way out.
As days turn into weeks and months, the four must work together to survive against both their dwindling resources and the enigmatic, looming threat that is keeping them trapped.
Previously titled 11817, The Last House comes from director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, Now You See Me) and writer Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters, this year's excellent Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die).
The Netflix sci-fi release seems to cement 2026 as a banner year for the genre.
We've already had Disclosure Day, Project Hail Mary and the aforementioned Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die.
On the way, meanwhile, is Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three, Ridley Scott's The Dog Stars, David Robert Mitchell's The End of Oak Street, Taika Waititi's Klara and the Sun, Na Hong-jin's Hope, and Takashi Yamazaki's Godzilla Minus Zero.
The Last House will be released on Netflix on 7 August 2026.
