The travel chaos is set to begin June 3.

Irish holiday-goers have been warned of major disruption to one popular destination.

Travellers heading to the popular destination are being urged to plan ahead and consider their options as cabin crew, railway staff and public transport workers are set to strike on Wednesday, 3 June in protest against proposed government reforms, per the Mirror.

Over 500 flights are expected to be axed, and trains, ferries, city metros and buses will also be affected.

According to Travel Tomorrow, cabin crew working for TAP Air Portugal, as well as its regional operators Portugália and SATA, are expecting staff absences of up to 79%.

The personnel shortfall is could prove problematic for other airlines, such as Ryanair and easyJet who operate services from Portuguese bases.

Should a flight be delayed or cancelled due to strikes, airlines are generally obliged to assist or compensate passengers, however this can vary airline to airline depending on their terms and conditions, with some not providing compensation for strikes outside their control.
