Our TV movie pick for tonight (Wednesday, 3 June) is Rescue Dawn, the 2006 war survival drama starring Christian Bale.

Based on true events, the film follows US fighter pilot Dieter Dengler (Bale), who is shot down during the Vietnam War and captured by enemy forces.

Despite being held in a jungle prison camp under brutal conditions, he refuses to give up hope and he and his fellow prisoners begin plotting their daring escape.

The film, which was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Werner Herzog, is tense and thrilling. It earned strong reviews upon release, with critics praising its intensity and authenticity as well as Bale's performance.

As well as all that, it holds a huge 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Rescue Dawn airs on Film4 tonight at 9pm.
