The motorcyclist was uninjured.

A woman in her 40s has died after being hit my a motorcycle on a busy Dublin road in Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred shortly before 7.15pm on the R139 at Belcamp, Coolock.

The woman was taken to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries but was pronounced deceased. The motorcyclist was uninjured.

The road at Belcamp was closed for forensic examination but has since reopened.

In a statement to JOE on Thursday morning, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian that occurred shortly before 7:15pm on Wednesday 19th June 2024 on the R139 at Belcamp, Coolock, Dublin 17.

“The pedestrian, a female in her 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries.

“She has since been pronounced deceased and a post-mortem examination will be arranged. The motorcyclist was uninjured.

“The R139 at Belcamp was closed for a time and a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators was conducted. The road has since re-opened.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R139 at Belcamp, Coolock between 7pm and 7:30pm on Wednesday 19th June 2024 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Coolock Garda Station at 01 666 4200, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
