Video: When water-skiing goes wrong
Here we have footage of an attempted water-ski jump and sadly for the chap in question, it goes horribly wrong.
Any sport that involves being dragged behind a motor powered vehicle is generally one to be wary of. Water-skiing is no different. We bet Kyle Dammeyer of Ohio is wishing he didn’t attempt the jump, or at least that he’d tied his boots properly.
Upon attempting a jump at the Water-skiing Nationals for Ohio State, Kyle’s unsecured boot proved problematic and ended up sending him head first into the ramp.
As you can see from the video, the boat driver takes a wide turn in order to pick up speed for Kyle. However, this leaves large ripples of water to form behind the boat, creating wake ramps. Kyle tries to go over the bumpy wake but it caused his left ski to come flying off and caused him to go flying into the ramp.
We bet he’s glad he was wearing a helmet, although he failed to secure that too as you can see it bobbing in the water meters away.
I don't even know where to start other than you obviously have no clue what the hell you are talking about. First off Waterskis aren't tied on, nor can they be adjusted as they are compression fitting, had you had any experience behind a boat you would know this. Second, what in the world is a wake ramp? I've personally never heard this term and guarantee you made it up. Third, this wide turn you talk about, the boat takes an S pattern through the course so that there is no ripples in the skiers path. Finally, the helmet that wasn't secured on properly, again if you knew just the slightest thing about ski jumping you would know that in water sports you want the helmet to absorb the initial impact then release when you are in the water. This is because you don't want the extra drag created by the helmet and water to rip your neck off. Honestly is your writing just made up on the spot? It is so full of errors it is out right comical. I do enjoy the entertainment it has brought me however in the future before you slander someone for there lack of preparation or mind for safety, know that it would be wise to know what the hell your talking about.
