Need to boost tourism in your area? Open a Daniel O'Donnell visitor centre...

Does your area need some of that sweet tourist money? Or, could you do with a new car? Here’s one sure-fire way to cash in and make some mega bucks. Simply turn your house into a Daniel O’Donnell visitor centre.

Yes, it’s not ideal, but if the success of the centre in Donegal is anything to go by, you’ll be sleeping on a huge pile of money in no time.

The Irish Times reports that the Daniel O’Donnell visitor centre in Dungloe is already proving to be a massive hit, with more than 600 paying visitors from around the world visiting it in the space of a week.

Yeah, we find it pretty hard to believe as well, but what can we say? People are clearly mad for a bit of Daniel (for some strange reason).

The centre, which contains a load of Daniel’s memorabilia, has already seen fans from New Zealand, Canada, Switzerland, Scotland, England and across Ireland attend to ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ over stuff that the singer has once touched.

“Most of those 600 people may not have come to Dungloe but for the opening of the centre, and that’s a real positive in this day and age,” said Pat ‘Nora’ Gallagher, the businessman who started the visitor centre with Daniel himself.

And what have been the star attractions of the centre so far? Well apparently everyone is going mad to get a gawk at the outfits Daniel and his wife Majella wore on their wedding day, as well as the big red book that the crooner received when he appeared on the tv show This Is Your Life.

Seriously though, clear out a room in your house, throw a load of Daniel O’Donnell stuff in it and advertise it as a museum – you’ll be raking in the dough in no time.

If Donegal is anything to go by, there’s clearly a market for this kind of stuff…
