Irishman makes ambitious Facebook bid to bring Nicki Minaj to debs in North Clare
You’ve rented the tux, you’ve borrowed the auld lad’s car for the night and you’ve got Nicki Minaj as your date. The North Clare debs doesn’t get much better than that.
It’ll probably never happen, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth a shot, right? That’s the attitude being adopted by Kevin Falvey, a North Clare man whose ambitious attempt to get the hugely popular R&B singer to perform at his Debs has gone viral after attracting over 15,000 likes and nearly 300 comments on Facebook in just over 24 hours.
Kevin sent the request to the 29-year old singer with the huge bum on Facebook late on Tuesday night, saying that although their budget was tight, they could promise that the atmosphere would be “as mad as a bag of slinkys” and that, to sweeten the deal, they would even buy her a 3 in 1 in the Chinese afterwards.

As far as we’re aware, there has been no response on Minaj’s part yet, but there has been an unbelievable reaction on Facebook, with Falvey’s innocent request attracting thousands of likes and plenty of comments in the hours after he posted it in the first place.
One comment even translated Falvey’s Clare-speak into language that Minaj might be able to understand a little easier, saying: “Nicki I'll translate for you: Just wondering if you'd like to perform at my prom in the west of Ireland, 2012.
“Although we can only offer you our budget of 200 euro, it'll be a night not to be missed, it'd make everyone in Ireland love you more and we will provide you with the finest oriental cuisine on the night. Please respond and let me know if it will be possible, Thank you.”
Sounds like a decent enough deal to us. Hell, if he throws in a trip to the Cliffs of Moher, a tour of the Ailwee Caves, a one on one hurling tutorial with Davy Fitz and maybe even a shopping trip to Limerick as part of the package, she'd be mad to say no.
Best of luck, Kevin.
