Amazon Prime Video has just quietly added 15 big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

Oscar-winning dramas, big budget blockbusters and some hilarious puerile comedies.

Amazon Prime Video revealed their impressive line-up of new arrivals coming to the streaming service in July, but they’re also regularly adding some big movies that you may or may not have seen before.

Here are 15 new additions this week:

The Angry Birds Movie 2

This animated sequel is actually a very decent watch, much more enjoyable than the pure cash-in of the original.

Carol

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara star in this achingly beautiful romantic drama, with two women falling for each other in 1950s New York.

Chopper

Eric Bana and director Andrew Dominik (who is about to give us Netflix’s first adults-only movie) teamed up for this movie about famed criminal Chopper Reid and his time in prison.

Driven

Based on the true story of how the creator of the DeLorean car ended up becoming a drug runner with his neighbour. It features an impressive cast – Jason Sudeikis, Lee Pace, Judy Greer and Corey Stoll – but we’ll be honest, we’ve never heard of this movie before. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 63%, so it could be decent?

Dunkirk

Christopher Nolan’s WWII epic features an incredible cast, and a fantastic time-twisting narrative that puts the likes of Tom Hardy, Harry Styles and Barry Keoghan in the thick of the action together. Check out our interview with Barry Keoghan and Mark Rylance about the movie right here:

Force of Nature

Not to be confused with the Ben Affleck/Sandra Bullock rom-com Forces of Nature, this is pretty much the exact same plot as Hurricane Heist, except it stars Mel Gibson. Oh, and it has a score of 8% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Imitation Game

The Oscar-winning biopic of famed mathematician Alan Turning (Benedict Cumberbatch), who may be the key to turning the tide against the war with Germany in WWII, while also having to keep much of his personal life a secret.

Life As We Know It

When their mutual best friends die in an accident, two singles adults (Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl) become the legal guardians to their orphaned baby girl. A “comedy”.

Paddington 2

One of the greatest movies ever made.

Pan

This live-action adaptation of the Peter Pan story, complete with Hugh Jackman as Captain Hook singing covers of Nirvana songs, is one of the biggest box office flops of all time.

Poseidon

The big budget remake of the classic disaster movie. A very decent cast and some cutting edge special effects. It is not good, but it is incredibly watchable.

Tammy

Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon play mother and daughter who head off on a road trip together when their lives back home completely fall apart.

Ted & Ted 2

Mark Wahlberg and his living teddy bear. The first one is good. The second one is not.

War Dogs

The director of The Hangover Trilogy and Joker tells this true story of two young men (Jonah Hill and Miles Teller) who win a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to arm America’s allies in Afghanistan. Check out our interview with Hill about the movie right here:
