Video: Didier Drogba's header was good but Falcao scored the goal of the day, possibly the season
Didier Drogba didn’t score the best goal yesterday. He wasn’t even close because of this stunner from Falcao.
As we watched the Champions League final we thought that Didier Drogba’s late header, to send the game into extra-time, was the goal of the day. The Ivorian’s finish was world class and it provoked another orgasmic yelp from Sky’s Gary Neville, always a sign of quality.
But we suspect the former Manchester United full-back may have exploded if he had been co-commentating on Atletico Madrid's friendly with America de Cali in Colombia. Now we already knew that Atletico’s Colombian striker Radamel Falcao is a bit special.
He has just won back-to-back Europa League titles with two different clubs and if it wasn’t for two lads called Messi and Ronaldo, he would be the most lethal finisher in La Liga.
But Falcao has saved the best until last and in front of his home fans he has scored one of the best volleys we have ever seen, in this or any season.
Straight from a corner kick the super striker delivers a stunning scissors kick right into the top corner of the net. An awesome finish from one of the very best anywhere in the game right now. Enjoy.
