Video: South American footballer plays on despite pesky burst haemorrhoid

We all know that haemorrhoids are quite literally a pain in the ass but bursting one while wearing white shorts in a televised game? That's just unlucky.

Unfortunately for River Plate's Leo Ponzio, that's exactly what happened during Sunday night's Argentine league clash against Boca Unidos, having fell to the ground during the game, "opening [himself] up more than usual."

Try hold down that jam sandwich, as we have quotes from the man himself:

“It was weird what happened to me, because I had spent a week in which I had eaten well," recalled Ponzio.

"In the meantime I had been fine, but after a move that threw me to the ground I opened myself more than usual and I started to feel the blood. I felt that something had broken."

A model professional, the player managed to finish the entire game despite his bottom bother and even helped the side to a 2-1 win over their opponents.

You can watch Ponzio's ordeal in the above clip but please do not make fun of him, period.

    WoW!
Reminds me of the state of my kit when I got dressed to play football just after leaving the dressing room at school when Mr McEnroe was my gym teacher. I dont remember why he was there at the showers, I seem to have blocked that out of memory, but my shorts looked the same.
