Hair-raising: Rooney snaps pic of hair transplant results on Twitter

A day after tweeting to his 778,000 followers that he had undergone a hair transplant to combat pre-mature balding, Wayne Rooney today revealed the results.

'Hi all there's my head. It will take a few months to grow. Still a bit bloody to. But that's all normal.' tweeted the Manchester United and England ace, while including the '#hairwego' hashtag he had managed to have trending on the micro-blogging site.

The pic, which is slightly disturbing as the player's head is still bloody and bruised following the operation, can be seen below:

On Friday The Sun printed pictures of a baseball cap and hoodie-wearing Rooney leaving the Harley Street Hair Clinic in London. The striker then confirmed that he had undergone a FUE (follicular unit extraction) surgical operation, estimated to have cost somewhere between £20,000-£30,000 in the case of the previously-rapidly receding 25-year-old.

'Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25 why not. I'm delighted with the result', tweeted Rooney yesterday morning, while his wife Coleen also tweeted her support by writing: 'Yes, Wayne's had his hair done. His decision - not me asking him, like a lot are saying. Pleased for him and it will look great'.

Rooney had been able to undergo the surgery this weekend as he was suspended for England's disappointing Euro 2012 qualifier 2-2 draw with Switzerland.

The Red Devils striker's decision follows in the footsteps of his possible future team-mate Wesley Sneijder, who went under the knife earlier this year to help correct his own balding pate. The Inter Milan creative midfielder has been linked to the club for many months, but may cost upwards of €30m.
