Barca defend their crown
Barcelona have won La Liga two years on the trot following their 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid yesterday, securing the title from second-placed rivals Real Madrid.
It is seven trophies in two years for the Catalan club under their popular manager Pep Guardiola.
After a cagey start yesterday, Barcelona let loose following an own goal from Valladolid’s Luis Prieto. Pedro made it two nil before the break and Barca’s inspirational attacker, Lionel Messi, scored a double to seal the title and bring his tally to 47 goals for the season.
Barcelona’s twentieth domestic title comes with three points to spare over Real Madrid who only managed a draw away to Malaga yesterday. The champions finished the season with 99 point, with only one defeat in 38 league matches and just four losses in all competitions this season.
Over 98,000 fans celebrated at the Nou Camp last night, however, the day of glory was marred by violent scenes on the city's streets between police and party-goers late into the night.
