The Cat is in the Bag - A famous Trapattoni quote and our newest Euro 2012 song

24/02/2012 4:39 pm

It was only a matter of time before someone came up with a musical ode to one of the standout quotes from the Giovanni Trapattoni era. Here’s Liam Tighe (pictured above) with The Cat is in the Bag.

Ok, so Trap mightn’t have uttered them exact words – it was more a barely comprehensible rant about cats, sacks and bags – but you get the picture. It was that feline-related quote that inspired Dublin-based singer Liam Tighe to pen his song ‘The Cat’s in the Bag’, which references a wide variety of people and places including President Michael D Higgins, Pavel, Yuri and Ivan, Tipperary and Mayo.

The song has been generating a fair bit of momentum in recent weeks and having already appeared on East Coast FM with Declan Meehan, Liam is also set to feature on the Ken Doherty Show on Sunshine 106.8 FM next Monday evening.

Have a listen to the song below or in the video above and see if it compares to the entries we’re received for our Euro 2012 song so far.
