All Nirvana fans look away now, there is going to be a sitcom made in the US named after the iconic grunge anthem.

We guess it is a sign we’re getting old but the news that US broadcaster CBS is working on a sitcom called ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ makes us very sad indeed. When we heard about it, we feared it was going to be some awful tie in to Kurt Cobain and his bandmates but thankfully, the only link is the name.

It is written by the team behind The Big Bang Theory and it is reported to be about a teenager who "forgoes Harvard and instead opts to launch a multibillion-dollar Internet company from his garage with the assistance of his sister, best friend and his 1990s indie-rock parents", according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Doesn’t sound very funny, does it? We doubt Courtney Love will find it very funny either, so it may never make it to screen, at least under that name.

Anyway, have a listen to the 1991 original before you go to bed, it will make you feel better.
