Dumb it down

Did someone donate a couple of grand to charity without knowing it?
We've heard today that a charity shop in Dublin is looking for a woman who donated a couple of grand to charity, but we're still not sure if she meant to...
So what’s this about a couple of grand being donated to charity? Who were the lucky recipients?
The money actually wound up in the Barnardos charity shop in Rathmines last Wednesday. Apparently, a middle aged woman came into the shop at around 1.30pm on Wednesday with a ‘little’ donation to make.
What exactly was this ‘little’ donation then?
Well the woman originally went to the shop to donate a simple set of curtains. However, when she left the shop, one of the eagle eyed workers noticed that ‘a substantial’ amount of money was pinned inside the lining of the curtains.
Now it hasn’t been revealed as to how much exactly was pinned inside the curtain, but seeing as it’s being reported as ‘a substantial’ amount, it’s safe to assume the amount is in the high hundreds, maybe even thousands.
Right… Seems a bit fishy does it not?
Well yeah, something does seem a bit off if we’re truthful. Firstly, who donates a single pair of curtains to a charity shop? Generally people clean out their homes from top to bottom and whatever is still usable - but not wanted for whatever reason - is given to the charity shop. So it’s a bit weird that the woman came in with just one donation of a set of curtains with no word of the cash.
I see. And is anyone looking for the woman?
Yes actually. The Director of Marketing and Fundraising at Barnardos, Ruth Gui, said the charity are very keen to speak to the woman in question, according to RTÉ News. According to Ruth Gui, the woman may not even know that the readies are pinned to the curtains (could you imagine?) or she may have taken the curtains down from someone else and thought she was doing them a favour.
"We're keen to let her know that [the money] was in the curtains and if she could drop back into the shop, we can reunite her with the cash".
So it all could have been a big mistake and not just a secret covert donation?
Well until the woman comes forward to explain why exactly the cash was pinned to the curtains, we won’t know exactly what the story is. However, until then, we’re sure it will find a nice warm bank account to rest in.
